In Saidpora Payeen, the Mir family has been around for a long time. Abrashid Mir is the one who handles things for Mirnatural Farms Producer Company Limited. We are located right here in Shopian, and the land is what we know best. We don't use any of those new-fashioned chemicals or heavy sprays. We just do things the natural way because that is how we were taught. It is a lot more work to do it that way because you have to spend more time weeding by hand and checking each plant for problems. The weather in Shopian can be a bit of a gamble, especially with the hailstorms that come out of nowhere and ruin a whole year of work in ten minutes. We have had our share of bad luck over the years, but you just have to pick up the pieces and start again the next morning. We aren't trying to be the biggest farm in the region. We just want to grow good stuff and sell it to people who care about how it was raised. We spend most of our time out in the dirt, far away from any computers or desks. Our hands are calloused and our backs ache, but seeing the crops grow makes it worth it. It is a simple, honest way to make a living and we wouldn't change it for anything else. We just hope the next harvest is a good one.
