Marhaba Restaurant

You can find Marhaba Restaurant at the Aziz complex in the Baran pather area of Batamaloo. We are located right opposite the fire service station, which is a good way to find us if you are new to this part of Srinagar. The weather here changes a lot, so some days it’s cold and we are huddled inside, and other days it’s quite nice. We open up the shutters and start the coal or the stoves early. The smell of the kitchen starts to fill up the room before the sun is fully up. It’s a basic place with old-fashioned service. We don’t have a lot of fancy furniture or modern decorations. It’s just a spot for people in Batamaloo to sit down and have a meal. The fire trucks across the street sometimes make a lot of noise, but it’s just part of the daily life here. We get a mix of people coming in, from travelers to local shopkeepers. We don’t do any big marketing; we just rely on the fact that we are here and the food is ready. It’s a lot of hard work keeping the place running, especially in the cold winter months when everything slows down. We focus on the daily tasks like washing the dishes, prepping the vegetables, and keeping the place warm. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in the city and we have been at it for some time now without any real complaints.
