Irhan Sevakindra Farmer Producer Company Limited is located up in Village Potha, which is part of the Surankote Tehsil in the Poonch and Rajouri area. It’s a beautiful place but the farming can be tough because of the heights and the way the land is shaped. We are a group of locals who have lived in Potha all our lives. We saw that things were changing and it was getting harder to keep the traditional farms going, so we formed this company to help ourselves stay afloat. We don't have a big staff or a fancy headquarters; we just use what we have in the village. Most of our time is spent checking on the crops and making sure the animals are doing okay. When we need to meet, we just gather in the village and talk things through. It’s a very informal way of doing things, but it works for us because we all know each other. We deal with whatever the seasons throw at us, from heavy snow in the winter to the monsoon rains. It’s really about keeping the local community going so that we don't get left behind. We work with our hands and we don't have time for corporate talk or complicated strategies. It’s about the soil, the seeds, and making sure there is enough to go around for everyone involved in the group. It is just plain, simple farming life that we have known for generations.
