Sri Sai Degree College

Sri Sai Degree College is located out in Ranasthalam, Srikakulam. It’s where a lot of the local young people end up after they finish their schooling. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a sturdy place with plenty of windows for the breeze. We have students coming in from all over the district on buses or their own bikes. Most days are pretty much the same. The lecturers show up, the bells ring, and everyone heads to their assigned rooms. We spend a lot of time talking about exams and future jobs because that’s what the students care about. During the breaks, the canteen gets crowded and there’s a lot of chatter. It’s a bit of a trek to get here if you live far away, but people make it work. We have a small office where all the records are kept in big stacks. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to open the doors wider to stay cool. It’s not a high-tech campus, just a place for learning and getting through the degree years. We see a lot of faces come and go every year. Some stay in touch, others move away to the bigger cities. We just keep things running here in Srikakulam, making sure the classes happen and the exams are conducted fairly. It’s a practical place for practical people. We just focus on the books and getting things done.
