Government Junior College

Government Junior College in Palakonda is pretty easy to find since it’s right behind the APSRTC Bus Depo. Being near Nkrajpuram and the bus stand means there’s always a lot of noise and movement around. You can hear the buses pulling in and out all day long. The college building itself is a standard government structure, which means it’s made of heavy concrete and has that familiar look of public offices in Srikakulam. It’s not a place for luxury, that’s for sure. The benches are old, and the fans sometimes creak a bit when they're on full speed. But for the students who come here, it’s their main spot for finishing their junior college years. A lot of them come from the surrounding villages, using the very buses that park right next door. The atmosphere is very down-to-earth. The staff spends their time managing the many students who enroll every year, and there’s always a lot of chatter in the corridors. It’s a bit of a hub for the local youth who are looking to pass their exams and move on to bigger things. We don’t have much in the way of decorations or fancy landscaping. It’s just a functional space where people come to do their work. It’s a bit worn out around the edges, but it’s a vital part of Palakonda for anyone living here. We just try to get the teaching done in the time we have.
