Kakatiya Juniour College

Down here in Srikakulam, things are usually pretty steady. Kakatiya Juniour College is where a lot of the local teenagers end up for their intermediate years. It’s right in the heart of the 532001 zip code area. You’ll see the students hanging around the entrance before the first bell rings. We’ve got some old wooden benches and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for what we need. It’s a busy spot. You hear the sounds of the town all day long while you're sitting in the office. We don’t go in for much show. Most of the staff have been living in Srikakulam their whole lives, so we know the families coming through the doors. It’s mostly about getting through the syllabus and making sure the kids are ready for their exams. There’s a lot of paper work involved, and sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour or two in the afternoon heat. We just open the windows and keep going. It’s a plain building, nothing too special to look at from the street, but it’s full of activity from morning till evening. People know where we are if they need to ask about admissions or just want to check on how their son or daughter is doing. We just try to keep things running smooth day after day without making any big fuss about it.
