Raj Vashno Dhaba

Raj Vashno Dhaba has been sitting right here opposite the New Bus Stand in Rania for a good bit of time. Being about 20 km out from the main Sirsa area, we get all sorts of people stopping by. Mostly it’s folks getting off the buses or drivers who need a break from the long road. The place isn’t decorated with anything special. We have the basic wooden tables and chairs, and the kitchen stays busy from early morning till late. You can hear the buses pulling in and out all day long. It gets a bit dusty with the road right there, but we keep the floors swept as much as we can. We make the usual stuff you’d expect at a dhaba. Tandoori rotis, dals, and whatever vegetables are fresh from the market that morning. There is no big menu with pictures or descriptions. We just tell people what we cooked for the day and they pick something. My family helps out with the serving and the cleaning. It’s hard work, especially when it gets crowded during the lunch hour and everyone wants their food at once. The tea is always hot, which helps in the winter months when this part of Haryana gets really chilly. We don’t have a website or any of that fancy stuff. Just this spot on ward number 10. If you are hungry and waiting for a bus, you just walk across the street. We’ve been here so long the regular drivers don't even have to ask anymore.
