Kale Da Punjabi Dhaba

This dhaba is right on the G T Road where it meets Dabwali Road in Sirsa. We are Kale Da Punjabi Dhaba and we’ve been at this spot for a good while. Being near the Nahar in Orha means we see a lot of people coming and going from the fields or just traveling through the 125055 area. It's a simple setup like you’d expect on the highway. We have those big wooden benches and the air always smells like woodsmoke and spices. My family helps out with the cooking and serving. It’s hard work, especially when the trucks start pulling in late at night. The GT Road never really sleeps, so we stay alert. We don't have fancy decorations or air conditioning that works all the time. It’s just a place to get a hot meal and sit for a minute. Sometimes we sit out front and watch the traffic go by when things are slow. Sirsa gets very cold in the winter, so we keep the tea hot. People know us as the place near the canal. We don't do much advertising; people just see the lights from the road and pull over. We’ve been part of this community for years, and we know many of the drivers by name. It’s just a plain life, cooking food and keeping the place clean for the next person who stops. We aren't a big restaurant, just a dhaba for the road.
