Galleu Hill Resort is tucked away on the Kufri Fagu Road. It’s quite high up so the air is always a bit thinner and a lot colder than down in the valleys. We have a few rooms and a main building where we do most of the work. The road outside can get very busy during the tourist season with cars and buses going back and forth. In the winter things slow down a lot because of the snow. Sometimes we have to spend hours just clearing the path so people can get their cars out. We have a small kitchen that makes simple meals for whoever is staying with us. The views are okay if the fog isn't too thick but some days you can't see anything at all. We have some old heaters in the rooms that hum quite a bit when they are turned on. The wood on the balcony is starting to show its age from the rain and snow. We don't have a lot of staff so we all end up doing a bit of everything like carrying bags or washing dishes. It’s a quiet life up here on the hill. We see the same monkeys every day hanging around the roof. They try to steal food if you leave the windows open. It’s just a basic place for people who are traveling through this part of the mountains.
