Manswadesh Farmer Producer Companylimited is based in a small place called Shenawadi. That’s in the Khatav taluka of Satara district. Our office is at house number five. It’s a very local operation, run by people who live right here in the village. We don't have any fancy corporate headquarters. It’s just a room where we get together to talk about the farming season and what we need to buy or sell. Living in Satara, you learn a lot about the land and how to deal with the dry weather. We formed this company to help the local farmers get a fair shake. It’s mostly just us working together to share tools and information. There aren't any big bosses here; everyone just pitches in where they can. You can usually find someone at the office in the mornings before they head out to the fields. We don't have a website or anyone to do PR for us. The news around here travels by word of mouth anyway. If the crops are doing well, everyone is happy. If there’s a problem, we sit down and try to fix it together. It is a simple life, but the work is important to us. We’ve been in Shenawadi for years and we know every corner of these fields. It’s just plain, honest work from people who know the soil. We aren't looking to be anything more than what we are.
