Our office for Kisan Fieldfresh Farmer Producer Company Limited is at House No 2001, right near the Ambe Malaat area in Taradgaon. This is part of the Phaltan taluka in the Satara district. We are just a group of local farmers who decided that we needed to organize ourselves a bit better. The house near Ambe Malaat is where we keep all our ledgers and where we meet to discuss the plans for the upcoming season. Farming in Satara has its own set of challenges, from the water supply to the fluctuating prices at the mandi. We spend a lot of our time trying to figure out how to navigate these issues. It isn't a glamorous job, and we don't pretend it is. Most of us are more comfortable in the dirt than sitting behind a desk, but we know the office work is necessary. We handle the collection of produce and try to find buyers who will give us a fair deal. It is about being practical and helping each other out when the work piles up. We don't have a big marketing budget or any fancy titles. We just go by our names and do what needs to be done. Whether it is sorting out a delivery or checking the quality of the seeds, someone is always at the house or out in the fields making sure things stay on track. It is a simple life, but it keeps us very busy.
