Mahalingeshwar Farmers Producer Companylimited is located in Savalsang. We operate out of the Prathamik Krishi Pattin Sahakarisangh building. It is a local setup designed to help the farmers around here. This isn't a fancy office with air conditioning and modern art. It is a practical space where people come to talk about their crops and their livelihoods. We have benches for people to sit on while they wait. The walls are covered with notices and old calendars. We spend most of our time listening to the problems farmers are having and trying to find ways to move their produce. It is a collective effort, really. Everyone here knows each other. We use simple tools and keep our records in big ledgers mostly. The building itself has been around for a while and it shows its age, but it works for us. We are not here to make a big name for ourselves. We just want to make sure the farmers in Savalsang have a place to organize. The work is tied to the soil and the seasons. When it is harvest time, the place is packed and very loud. Other times, it is just a few of us drinking tea and planning for next month. It is a humble operation, but it is important to the people who live and work in this area of Maharashtra. We just do our best.
