Mahabaleshwar Taluka Western Ghat Farmers Producer Company Limited is run out of Pramod Bajirao Shelar’s house. We are at House Number 103 in Tapola, which is in the Javali taluka. It’s a beautiful area up here in the Western Ghats, but farming on these slopes isn't always easy. We have a lot of hills and the weather can change fast. We started this company to help the local farmers in the Mahabaleshwar area. Mostly we deal with the stuff people grow around Tapola. Our office is just a part of Pramod’s home. It’s where we keep the records and meet to discuss what needs to be done. We don't have any fancy brochures or a sales team. It’s just us, the people who actually live and work here. Sometimes the roads are bad and it takes a while to get anything moved. We just deal with it as it comes. We talk to the other growers about how to get better yields or where to find tools. It’s a practical way to manage things. We don't use a lot of corporate talk. We just say what we mean. Being part of the Western Ghats means we have to respect the land. That’s what we try to do every day in Javali. It’s a quiet life for the most part, but there is always work to be done for the company.
