Kaledhonekar Farmer Producer Company

Down in Dambewadi in the Khatav area of Satara, we have set up Kaledhonekar Farmer Producer Company. It is mostly run out of Madhukar Krishna Bagal’s place, so it feels very much like a home operation. We are not a big city business with polished floors. We are just local people from the village who know the land around here and how the soil behaves. Satara is a good place to live, but the farming can be real tough depending on if the water comes or not. We decided to get together to see if we could handle our produce a bit better as a group instead of everyone just doing their own thing alone. The office is really just a room where we meet and talk about seeds, fertilizers, and where we might sell the harvest this time around. It stays pretty quiet most of the time except when we have our group meetings and everyone shows up at once. We do not have any flashy signs or big marketing plans to show off. We just want to make sure the work we do in the fields actually pays off at the end of the year so we can keep going. Being at Post Dambewadi means everyone knows everyone anyway, so news travels fast. We handle the paperwork, talk to the government departments when we absolutely have to, and just try to keep things moving forward for the local families.
