Happy Milk Farmers Producer Company Limited is pretty easy to find if you know where the Dhaka General Store is. We are right there by the Bikaner Bypass bus stand in Harsava Fatahpur. It’s usually quite loud with all the buses and trucks rumbling past on the highway, but you get used to it after a while. Most of the people around here are busy with their cows and buffaloes from early morning. We started this group because selling milk individually was getting complicated and we weren't getting a fair deal. Now, we bring everything to this one spot. The office isn't much to look at, just a few desks and some milk testing equipment. You’ll often see farmers leaning their bikes against the wall while they wait for their turn. We spend a lot of time talking about the price of fodder and how the water levels are doing. In the summer, the heat off the bypass is really something, so we try to get most of the work done before noon. It’s a local operation run by people who live right here in the village. We don't have any fancy marketing people or anything like that. It is just us trying to make the dairy business work a bit better for everyone in the neighborhood. If you stop by the bus stand, just look for the crowd near the store. It is honest work and it keeps us busy.
