Global English Medium School

Global English Medium School is situated in Umbraj, which is just a short distance from Satara. We started this school because there weren't many English medium options in this specific area. The building is a simple one-story structure with a few extra rooms added over the years as we grew. We have a small yard where the kids play during their lunch break. It's mostly dirt, but they don't seem to mind. The classrooms are filled with charts and maps that the students made themselves. We try to use English as much as possible during the day, even if it’s a bit of a struggle at first for some of the newer kids. Most of our students come from the local farming families or people working in the nearby shops. We have a small office near the entrance where we handle the paperwork. It’s usually a bit messy with stacks of notebooks. We don't have a big bus fleet, so many kids come by local transport or their parents bring them on scooters. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, but we do make sure the work gets done. It’s not a fancy private school with a swimming pool or anything like that. It’s just a place where we try to give the local kids a better start with their language skills. It takes a lot of effort from everyone involved to keep it going.
