Ram Sarup Memorial School

Out on the Amargarh Chaunda Road in the Sangrur district, you will find our school. Ram Sarup Memorial School sits in the village area of Chaunda. It is a rural setting, so we are surrounded by green fields and big open sky. Most of the families around here are involved in farming, so we understand the local way of life and the seasons. The school is not very large, just a few blocks of classrooms and a main office for the paperwork. We have a small playground where the kids spend their lunch breaks playing tag or talking. We don't have a huge budget for fancy equipment, but we make sure every student has a desk and their books. Our teachers are local people who walk or ride their scooters to get here every day. We follow the standard curriculum and try to keep things as simple as possible. It is a quiet place most of the time, except when the kids are arriving or leaving. We don't have a big administration department; it is mostly just a few of us handling everything from the accounts to the cleaning. We know the students' families well, and they often stop by the gate to chat about how their kids are doing. It feels more like a community center sometimes than a formal institution. We are just a local school trying to do right by the children in this part of Punjab.
