Himland Public School

We’ve been running Himland Public School here in Dirba for quite some time now. It’s right in the heart of Sangrur, tucked away in the 148035 area code. The school isn't some fancy glass building you see in big cities, but it’s sturdy and serves the local families well. Every morning, you see the kids walking in from around the neighborhood. Some come on cycles and others are dropped off by their parents. We have a playground that gets pretty dusty in the summer months, but the children don't seem to mind it much when they're playing. The rooms are simple with wooden desks and blackboards that have seen many years of lessons. Our staff mostly live nearby so we all know each other pretty well. It’s a busy place during the day with all the chatter in the hallways. When it rains, the sound on the roof is quite loud, but we just keep on with the classes. We focus on the basics here, making sure the kids learn their math and languages without too much fuss. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just open the windows for some air. It’s just how things are in this part of Punjab. We try to keep the place tidy, though with so many students running around, it’s a constant job. People in Dirba know where we are, right on the main stretch. It's just a regular school doing its part for the local kids.
