Fortune Convent Senior Secondary School sits out on Akohi Sahab Dhuri Road, which is a busy enough part of Sangrur. We are right there where people pass by on their way to work or the market. It’s a solid building, nothing too strange about it, just a place where kids come to finish their senior secondary years. We have students who have been with us since they were small and others who join later. The road outside stays busy with tractors and cars, but we stay focused on what’s happening inside the walls. Our staff mostly comes from the local area, so everyone knows everyone else. It makes for a friendly atmosphere without it needing to be anything formal. We don’t go for big speeches or fancy events; we just make sure the teachers are in their rooms and the students are actually reading their books. Sometimes the electricity goes out or the rain makes the road a bit messy, but that’s just life in Sangrur. We deal with it and keep going. The playground gets a lot of use during the lunch breaks. You can hear the noise from a distance. It’s a very normal school life here on Dhuri Road. We’ve been part of this landscape for a while now, and we just keep doing our part for the families living around Akohi Sahab.
