S. D. L. Granites

S. D. L. Granites is located right at 82, Subramaniya Pillai Street. It’s a place where there is always some dust in the air because of all the stone we handle. We have various slabs of granite leaning against the walls, and the yard is usually full of heavy blocks waiting to be cut or moved. Moving these stones isn't easy; you have to be careful with your back and make sure the equipment is working right. We have seen a lot of different people come through our doors looking for something for their homes or projects. Some know exactly what they want, and others just wander around looking at the patterns in the rock. We try to keep things organized, but in a granite yard, things tend to get a bit cluttered. It’s loud sometimes when the saws are running, so we usually talk pretty loud to hear each other. The street outside can get narrow when a big truck is trying to back in. We’ve been at this for a while and we know the stones pretty well by now. We don't have a big showroom or fancy lights. It’s just us, the stone, and the tools we use every day. If you walk by, you’ll probably see one of us covered in grey dust or drinking tea during a quick break. It is hard work, but there is something nice about seeing a finished piece of stone when the work is finally done.
