Jsb Granites

We’re based out in Peramachoor, which is a small spot near Muthunaikkanpatti. It’s deep in the Omalur area. If you’re driving out this way, you’ll see plenty of green fields and then suddenly you’ll hit our yard. We have a lot of space out here, which is good because granite takes up a lot of room. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We’ve known them for a long time. The work is mostly outdoor stuff. We’re dealing with the raw stone, getting it ready, and seeing what can be used. It’s often very quiet out here, apart from the sound of the machines. We don’t get a lot of walk-in traffic like the shops in the city do. Most of our business comes from people who already know we’re out here in Peramachoor. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the blocks. Some days the rain makes the ground all muddy and we can’t move the heavy trucks, so we just wait it out. It’s a different pace of life than the town. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing person. We just have the stone and the tools to cut it. It’s honest work and it keeps us going. We’re just a local group doing what we can with what the earth gives us. It’s hard work under the sun.
