Sri Jeyam Granites

We are situated at 3/742, right near the Railway Road in Peramachur. You can hear the trains passing by quite often throughout the day. It’s a sound we’ve gotten used to over the years here in Omalur. Muthunaickenpatti is a quiet enough place otherwise. Our yard is where we keep all the granite slabs. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around with the crane. The ground is mostly gravel and stone scraps. We have a small office space, but we spend most of our time outside. It’s just the way it is when you’re dealing with big pieces of rock. We try to keep the different types of granite separated so it’s easier to show people. Some days are slow and we just sit and drink tea, waiting for a delivery. Other days, it’s chaos with trucks coming and going. The neighbors are mostly other small workshops, so it’s a bit of an industrial feel. We don’t have a big staff, just a few local guys who know the work. We’ve been at this spot for a good while. The paperwork is kept in a wooden cabinet that’s seen better days. It’s a simple life. We work when there’s work to do. People find us because we’re near the tracks. It’s an easy landmark to give when someone is lost. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s a living for us and we stay busy enough.
