Down in Ratnagiri, specifically in the Chiplun area at a place called Bhom, you will find Kokankranti Womens Farmer Producer Company Limited. Our office is at house number 352. Being in the Kokan region means we deal with a lot of greenery and, of course, the heavy rains during the monsoon. It’s a beautiful place but the hills make farming a bit of a challenge compared to the flat lands. We are a group of women who decided to come together to manage our agricultural work more effectively. Most of us have been working the land since we were young. We handle things like mangoes, cashews, or whatever else grows well in this salty, coastal air. The office in Bhom is just a regular house where we keep our registers and meet up to discuss what needs to be done. It’s not always easy to get everyone together, especially when the weather is bad or it’s the peak of the harvest season. We have to balance the company work with our families and our own fields. We aren't some big city firm with shiny windows. We’re just local women trying to make the most of what the Kokan land gives us. It’s a slow process sometimes, but we are proud of what we’ve built in our little corner of Ratnagiri. It’s just real life and hard work for us every single day.
