Lanja Taluka Cashew Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group is based out in Verawali Bk, which is part of the Lanja Taluka area. A bunch of us farmers decided to come together because doing everything alone was getting pretty hard. We mostly deal with cashews since that is what grows well around here in our soil. It is a producer company, which basically means it is owned by the people who actually grow the crops. We don't have a big corporate office in the city or anything like that. Most of our meetings happen right where we work or in the small office we keep in the village. Dealing with the weather and the prices is always a bit of a gamble, but having this company helps us stay a bit more organized. We spend a lot of time talking about the trees and how the harvest is looking this year. It's not always easy work, especially when the rains are late or the sun is too hot, but we keep at it. People in the Lanja area know who we are because we’ve lived here our whole lives. We aren't looking to become some huge international brand, we just want to make sure the farmers in our taluka get a fair shake. It is a simple setup where everyone knows everyone else’s name and we try to help out when things get tough. We have our hands full with the cashew seasons, but that's just life for us out here in Verawali.
