We started this group in Ratnagiri at S No 159 A in Fansoptal because the women here needed a way to work together on their own terms. It is mostly about the land and what we grow every season in this part of the country. Dealing with the weather is always a challenge for us. Morning time is spent out in the fields, and then we handle the sorting and packing once the sun gets too hot. Our office isn't a big fancy place with rows of desks, just a small room where we meet to figure out the prices and where to send the produce this week. Sometimes things get messy when the rains come early or the transport doesn't show up, but that is just how farming is. We wanted to make sure the women farmers here got a fair deal for their hard work and didn't have to worry about every little thing alone. It isn't always easy to manage everything from the seeds to the actual selling, but we manage by helping each other. Because the office is right there in the village, everyone knows where to find us if they have questions or need to drop off a load of fruit. No big marketing team exists here.
