Bhoomiratna Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

We set up Bhoomiratna Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited here in Sakharapa, Sangmeshwar because a few of us women locally wanted to figure out a better way to handle our farm work. It started at Manohar Tukaram Bendre’s place. Ratnagiri is a good area for farming, but it gets complicated when you're trying to do everything alone. We just get together, pool what we have, and try to make sense of the market. Sometimes the weather doesn't help much, and some days are slower than others, but we keep going. It isn't a big fancy office or anything like that. It’s mostly just us talking about seeds, crops, and how to get things moved from the fields to where they need to go. Working together makes the heavy lifting a bit easier to manage. We aren't trying to do anything world-changing, just making sure our families and our land are looked after properly. Sakharapa is where we live and work, so it makes sense to keep things centered right here. Most of our days are spent out in the dirt or sitting around discussing what needs planting next season. It’s a lot of manual work and sometimes the paperwork gets a bit confusing, but we manage. If you come by the address near the post office, you’ll likely find someone busy with something. It’s just how life is here in the village. We take it one day at a time and help each other out when the harvest comes.
