Waves Art Gallery is a bit of a quiet spot compared to the rest of Sadhu Vaswani Chowk. We are located right on MSR Main Road 204, and the contrast between the street noise and the inside is pretty big. I spend a lot of my morning just walking around with a microfiber cloth, trying to get the smudges off the glass frames. Dust is a real problem with the main road being so close. The lights are those track ones that get really hot if you stand under them for too long. We have to move things around quite a bit to make room for new pieces that come in. The floor is a light-colored wood that shows every single footprint, so I am always dragging the mop out from the back closet. It is mostly just me or one other person here during the day. We do not get huge crowds, just people who wander in while waiting for a bus or locals who live in the area. The walls are a bit scuffed in the corners from where we have bumped into them with crates. It is not a polished museum, just a small gallery space where we try to keep things orderly. Sometimes I just sit behind the desk and watch the cars go by through the front window. It is a steady job, mostly about keeping the place clean and making sure everything is hanging straight. We are just here every day, making sure the art has a place to be seen.
