Our little shop is called Das Arts and we’re located in the Shivkripa building in Warje. We are pretty close to the Tapodham Vridhashram, which helps people find us. It’s a bit of a journey if you’re coming from the main part of the city, but it’s a nice enough area. We do a lot of different things here, mostly related to framing pictures and art. If you have an old photo or a new painting that needs a frame, that’s what we do. The shop usually smells like wood shavings and glue. There are frames leaning against the walls and scraps of mount board everywhere. It’s a bit messy, but that’s how a real workshop should be. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us working with our hands every day. We take our time with each piece because rushing leads to mistakes and we hate wasting materials. Sometimes people bring in old family photos that are literally falling apart. We do what we can to make them look good again. It’s nice to see someone’s face when they see their memories all framed up and ready to hang. We aren't trying to be a high-end gallery with expensive lights. We just want to provide a honest service for the local neighborhood. It gets especially busy on the weekends when people are off work. We’ve been in Warje for a few years now and we really like the people here.
