Charugatri Arts

You can find Charugatri Arts up on the fourth floor of the Octave building. We are at 402, right near the Mahabaleshwar Hotel on Laxmi Road. Baner Gaon has changed a lot since we first came here, but we are still here doing our thing. It is an art space, so there is always paint or paper lying around on the tables. We do not keep it very formal or clean. There are stacks of frames in the corner and sometimes the floor has spills on it. We spend the whole day working on different pieces. It is quiet up here compared to all the street noise down on Laxmi Road. Sometimes we look out the window at the hotel across the way when we need a break. People come by to see what we are making. We do not have a big sales team or anything like that. It is just us and the work we do. Some days the ideas come fast, and other days we just clean the brushes and wait for something to happen. The lighting is pretty good in the afternoons. We have got sketches and notes taped to the walls. It is a bit lived-in, honestly. We are not trying to be a fancy gallery. It is more of a workshop where things actually get made by hand. If the elevator is working, it is a quick trip up to the fourth floor. If not, the stairs are a bit of a climb. We like it here though. It is our little corner of Baner Gaon.
