Bhupen Gaitonde

Living and working in Pune has its own rhythm. My place is at 8/1, Sangeeta Society, which is on Tadiwala Road. It’s a fairly old building, but it’s sturdy and keeps the rain out. Bhupen Gaitonde is the name on the door, and it’s where I handle all my business affairs. The road outside can get pretty jammed during peak hours, so I usually try to get my errands done mid-morning. Sangeeta Society is a quiet enough place once you get inside the gate. I’ve got a small desk and a chair where most of the things happen, if you can call it that. It’s mostly just paperwork and phone calls. I don't see the point in having a fancy office in a mall when I can just work from here. It’s more comfortable and I don't have to deal with a long commute. Pune has grown so much lately, but Tadiwala Road still feels like the old city in some ways. I’ve known my neighbors for years. Sometimes we share a meal or just complain about the electricity going out. My work is straightforward. I don't try to make it sound more complicated than it is. I just provide what people need and try to be fair about it. If someone calls, I answer. If there’s a problem, I fix it. That’s about as much of a plan as I have for the day.
