Aperture India Art Gallery

You can find us on the first floor of Millennium Plaza, right across from Fergusson College. It is a busy part of town on FC Road in Deccan Gymkhana, so there is always a lot of noise outside, but it stays quiet enough inside the gallery. We spend a lot of time moving frames around and trying to get the lights positioned just right so the colors look okay on the walls. Being near the college means we see a lot of students walking by every day. Some people just wander in to look around while they are waiting for a friend. We don't mind that. The floor gets dusty pretty fast with all the foot traffic, so someone is usually sweeping. We hang up different types of art whenever we get something new in. It isn't a massive space, but we make it work. Sometimes we have to climb ladders to fix the hooks, and the air conditioner acts up when it gets too hot in April. We aren't trying to be some high-end place where you feel like you can't touch anything. It’s just an art gallery on the first floor. We drink a lot of tea while we're deciding where a new piece should go. It’s a nice way to spend the day, surrounded by paintings and drawings. If you are near the college, you have probably passed our building many times without realizing it’s here. It is just a local spot for art.
