Over on Mahatma Gandhi Road 1 in Kothrud, you’ll find Ambika Art. It’s a place filled with a lot of stuff—paint, brushes, and stacks of frames leaning against the walls. We’ve been here for a good while, and the shop has that specific smell of wood dust and oil paint. It’s not very big, so you have to watch your step so you don’t knock over a canvas. We spend a lot of time measuring things out and cutting glass for frames. Sometimes our hands are covered in ink or glue by the end of the day. It’s just how it is when you’re working on stuff like this. We have a lot of regulars who come in just to see what new things we’ve put in the window. The lighting isn't the best in the back corners, but we know where the supplies are kept. It gets dusty pretty quick with all the wood cutting, so we try to wipe things down when we have a spare minute. It’s a quiet kind of work most of the time, unless the traffic outside gets really loud. We don’t have a fancy layout or anything, just shelves and tables where we can get the work done. People stop by for all sorts of things, maybe a small sketch or a big frame for a family photo. We just keep at it, day after day, trying to get the details right for every person who trusts us with their pictures.
