Down in Muhiddinpur Sarai Mamrez, things are pretty quiet compared to the main city of Allahabad. Jansewa Inter College Muhiduinpur is located at Allahabad - 211001, but it feels like its own little world. The roads leading up to the college are often dusty and you might see a few tractors passing by. It’s a rural setting where everyone knows everyone else’s business. The college building is a modest one, mostly brick and mortar with big open windows to let the air in. We don’t have air conditioning, so we rely on the breeze and the shade of the big neem trees nearby. Students here are often from farming families and they bring that hardworking attitude with them. In the staff room, we sit around a big table and go through the notebooks while drinking tea. There’s a playground out back that gets very muddy when it rains, but the kids don't seem to mind much. We spend our days making sure the classes happen on time and that the records are kept straight in the heavy ledger books. It’s a very practical, no-nonsense environment. We don’t have a website that’s updated every day or anything like that. People just walk in if they need to talk to us. It’s a place that’s been built up over time by the local people and we’re just here keeping it running.
