Jamuna Kristian Inter College

We are located in the Mutthiganj area of Allahabad, right in the heart of the city with the 211001 pincode. The building has been around for a long time, and you can see it in the way the bricks look and how the wooden doors have smoothed over the years. It’s a school and an inter-college, so we have a wide range of ages running around. It can get pretty loud during the recess, with kids playing in whatever space they can find. The teachers here have been around for quite a while, and there’s a lot of history in these halls. We don't have air conditioning in every room; we mostly rely on big windows and old ceiling fans to keep us cool during the Allahabad heat. The desks are scarred with carvings from students who were here decades ago. It’s not a fancy private academy with a swimming pool. It’s a practical, local institution where we focus on the basics. My desk is usually covered in notebooks and a few stray pens that don't always work. We don't put on airs or pretend to be something we aren't. We just show up every morning, ring the bell, and do our best to teach the classes. It’s a busy, dusty, and honest place to work. When the final bell rings, the whole street fills up with students heading home through the narrow lanes of Mutthiganj.
