We are out in Bhagwatpur, specifically in the village and tola area. If you are looking for us, we are at Naresh Thakur’s place. Samastipur is our home and it’s where we do everything. This foundation isn't some corporate thing from the city. It's just local folks from the village. We have been here for a while now. Most days involve talking to people in the community about what’s going on. We don't have fancy brochures. If someone needs help, they just come find us. Naresh keeps the records and handles the mail. The roads can be a bit dusty around here especially in summer. We don’t really have fixed hours like a shop would. If the door is open, someone is there. We grew up here, so we know most of the families in the tola. It started small and stayed that way. Staying small seems better for us so we don't lose track of what matters. We deal with whatever comes our way, from local disputes to helping with paperwork. It’s practical work. No big speeches or anything like that. Just staying busy in Samastipur. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit outside and talk. That’s how things get done here anyway. We are just part of the village life, trying to do our bit. It’s quiet mostly, which we like. The neighbors usually bring us some news when they pass by. We just take it day by day and try to keep things moving.
