Pragatigramin Livelihood Foundation

Pragatigramin Livelihood Foundation is based out in Mathiya, Neem, which is in the Dumrao area of Buxar. Rajkumar runs the operation from his own place. We focus on how the people in our village earn a living. In a place like Buxar, things can be very tough if the crops fail or if there is no work to be found in the nearby town. We are not a big agency with lots of money to spend. We are just local folks trying to figure out better ways for everyone to get by. Sometimes we talk about new farming ideas, and other times we help someone figure out how to start a small shop of their own. It is all very practical, hands-on stuff. We do not have a fancy boardroom for meetings. Most of our discussions happen over a cup of tea in the yard or on the porch. We know almost everyone in the village, so we hear about problems as soon as they happen. We are not polished or corporate in the way we talk. We speak the same way everyone else here does and we understand the local struggles because we live through them ourselves. It is about helping people stand on their own two feet without needing to ask for help all the time. It takes a lot of time and effort. We don't need fancy offices or big signs to do what needs to be done. We just keep working at it.
