People Power Development Council

The People Power Development Council is based in the village of Akhlashpurbhabua, which is out in the Kaimur district. Sima Devi is the one in charge of the daily operations here. Our village is a quiet spot, and sometimes it feels like the rest of the country forgets we even exist. That is why we started this council in the first place. We wanted a way for the people who live here to have some kind of voice. It is not a political group or anything fancy like that. It is just neighbors getting together to talk about the local roads, the water supply, and the schools. We meet at Sima’s place or sometimes we just stand out in the open if the weather is nice enough. We do not have any paid staff or a big office building. Everyone who helps out is just a volunteer from the village who cares about their home. We handle things as they come up. If a family is really struggling, we see what the community can do to help them get through it. If there is a problem with the local services, we try to find a way to get it fixed. It involves a lot of talking and a lot of patience. Sometimes it feels like we aren't getting anywhere fast, but then a small thing changes for the better and it feels worth it. We are all in this together at the end of the day. That is the truth.
