Matritwa Foundation

Matritwa Foundation is based out of Kurhwa village. Shambhu Sah’s son runs things here on a daily basis. It is in the Kalyanpur block of Samastipur, zip code 848101. We are right in the middle of the Tola. It is a small place, surrounded by houses and some farm fields. You have to walk down a narrow path to get to our door. We have been in Kurhwa for a long time, so we know every corner of this panchayat. The office is just a room in the house, really. We keep our registers and books on a wooden shelf that my father made. It is not a fancy setup, but it works for what we need to get done. Sometimes the rains make the road a bit muddy and difficult, but people still come by to see us. We spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors. There is always someone with a question or a long story to tell. We do not have any big slogans or anything like that. We just do the work that comes our way. The morning starts early here with the sound of the birds and the cattle in the yard. We usually have tea together before we start the day's tasks. It is a quiet life but we stay quite busy with the foundation. Samastipur is a good place to be. We are happy to be part of this community.
