Jivanway Jivan Safe Foundation

Jivanway Jivan Safe Foundation is located out here in West Champaran, specifically in the village of Shampur Kotraha. If you are coming from Bettiah, you have to find the tola area in Panch-Shyampur Kotaraha. It is a very rural spot, so the roads get a bit dusty in the summer and quite muddy when the monsoon rains hit Bihar. Our building isn't anything special to look at, just a regular place where we keep our files and meet up. Most of the people around here know us because we have been working in this village for a good amount of time. You can often hear cows in the distance or the sound of a tractor passing by the front door. We keep the doors open most of the day to let the breeze in since it gets pretty hot. There is a small wooden bench outside where people sit and wait if we are busy with someone else inside. It is a quiet life in this part of India, but there is always plenty of work to do. We don't have any big signs or bright lights, just a small board with the name on it. Everyone just walks in when they need something, and we try to help out with whatever is going on that day. The office usually smells like the rain on the dirt outside or sometimes like the snacks someone brought from the market in Bettiah.
