Illuminator Foundation

The Illuminator Foundation is based at Shop Number 38 in Bajaj Plaza, which is in the Patna Sadar area. It’s a small shop that we’ve turned into our base of operations. We are just a few people from the neighborhood who wanted to do something useful for the community. We don't have any big corporate backing or a lot of fancy furniture. The shop is usually full of papers and local people who stop by to chat. We don't have a mission statement that we repeat to everyone. We just look at the problems in our part of Patna and see if there’s anything we can do to help. Sometimes it’s a small project for the local kids, other times it’s helping an adult find some training or work. We use everyday English and we don’t try to sound like a big organization. We are just your neighbors. Being in Bajaj Plaza means we see a lot of people every day. We like the bustle of the market and it keeps us grounded. We don't make big promises that we can't keep. We just try to be honest and work hard. If someone has a problem, they know where to find us. We don't have a big advertising budget, so we just rely on people knowing who we are and what we do in the community. It takes a lot of effort to keep things running, but we are happy to do it.
