Amanna Social Welfare Foundation

Our foundation, the Amanna Social Welfare Foundation, is located in the Income Tax Colony over in Bahadurpur. We’re based at A.K. Dutta Verma’s residence. It’s a pretty quiet neighborhood, which is nice when we have a lot of paperwork to get through. We aren't a big organization with hundreds of employees. It’s just a small group of us trying to do something useful. Our office is basically just a room with some files and a computer that’s seen better days. We spend a lot of time on the phone or responding to letters. Bahadurpur is a good place to be because we’re close to everything we need. We don’t put on airs or pretend to be something we’re not. If you come by, you’ll probably find us mid-conversation or drinking some tea while we work. We like being direct and honest with people. There’s no point in sugarcoating things. We’ve seen a lot of changes in the colony over the years, but our work stays pretty much the same. We handle the daily grind and try to stay on top of the needs that come our way. It’s not always exciting, but it’s important to us. We just keep our heads down and do what needs to be done without making a big fuss about it. The desk is a bit cluttered and we often lose our pens, but the work gets done anyway. We like it here.
