Shri Hari Krishi Fed Producer Company Limited is based out of Dangarthal village. We use Kalu Ram Sharma’s place as our main meeting spot and office. It’s a small village and everyone pretty much knows everyone else’s business anyway. We aren't a big corporation from the city with suits and ties. We are just local people who know about farming because we do it every single day of the week. Kalu Ram is around most of the time if someone needs to talk to the company or drop off some papers. Dangarthal is a quiet place, mostly made up of fields and small homes. We started this company because we wanted to have more of a say in how our crops are sold to the buyers. It’s very hard to do that when you are just one person working a small plot. Now that we have the producer company, we can talk to the big buyers as a group. It’s not always easy to get everyone to agree on the same page, but we manage to get by. We spend a lot of time talking under the trees or sitting on the front porch. The paperwork is probably the hardest part of the job for us. We’d much rather be out in the dirt. But we know the office stuff is important for the government rules.
