Shah Padam Traders

Shah Padam Traders is our little business at 50 Baisi Bazar. If you’ve ever been to Baisi Bazar, you know how narrow the streets are and how many people are always moving around. It’s a very old part of the city, and our shop has been part of that history for a while now. We are at number 50, which is a lucky spot for us. The building is old, with thick walls that keep it a bit cooler in the summer, though it still gets stuffy when the bazar is packed. We trade in various goods that people need for their daily lives. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. Our regulars are people whose parents and grandparents used to come here too. It’s a lot of talking and drinking tea while we work. The space is small, so we have to be clever about how we stack things up to the ceiling. Sometimes it feels like the whole shop is held together by the stock itself. We open early when the first rickshaws start arriving and we don't leave until the sun is well down. It’s a simple way to live, being right here in the thick of the market. We aren't looking to change much about how we do things because the old ways seem to work just fine for us and our neighbors. It's just home for us.
