We are based in Ward No. 9, right in Gurjar Basti. It’s part of the Malawas Mohallachhan area. Devlaxmi Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically a group of local farmers from the basti and the surrounding spots. We realized a while back that we could do more if we worked as one group instead of everyone just doing their own thing. The office is just a simple room where we store our tools and meet up in the evenings. You’ll hear a lot of talk about the crops and the prices while you're walking through the ward. It’s a tight-knit place. Everyone helps out when it’s time to harvest or plant. We don't have any big corporate goals. We just want to make sure the families here can make a living from their land. Sometimes we have to deal with the local authorities or figure out transportation for the grain, which can be a real headache. But having the company name helps us get a bit more respect in the market. Life in Malawas Mohallachhan moves at its own pace. We aren't in a rush to become famous. We just want the crops to be healthy and the prices to be fair for the people in the basti. It’s just us, working the same land our fathers did, trying to keep things going for the next generation without too much fuss.
