Zion Stones & Granites

Zion Stones & Granites has been here on Gandhi Rd for a bit. We are right by Gadiyaram Vari Veedhi. It’s a busy spot. Most mornings we start by moving the trucks out of the way so we can get to the inventory. The slabs are heavy and we have to be careful because if one drops, it’s done for. I spend a lot of time just showing people the patterns in the stone. Some want plain grey, others want the ones with swirls. I tell them to come look when the sun is out. The lights in the shed don’t show the real color as well as the natural light does. Sometimes the neighbors complain about the noise when we are cutting or polishing, but we try to get it done early. We have a lot of different stones piled up, and sometimes it takes a while to find the exact piece a customer saw last week. We don't have a fancy computer system to track everything, we just know where things are usually kept. My hands are always covered in grey dust from the granite. It’s just how it is here. People stop by on their way home from work to see if anything new came in. We just keep at it, day after day, helping folks pick something for their house. Gandhi Road is never quiet, so there’s always something going on outside our gate while we work with the stones.
