Our place is located at 70 Harish Chandra Dutta Road in the North 24 Parganas area of Kolkata. It is an old part of the city, and the building we are in has been here for quite some time. We handle banking and money matters for the local people who live around here. It gets very busy on Monday mornings with people lining up outside before we even open. We do not have the modern glass walls of the big downtown branches, but we have everything we need to help customers. The ceiling fans hum all day to keep the heat away. We deal with passbooks, cash deposits, and all the usual bank stuff. Sometimes the internet connection for the computers is a bit slow, so we have to ask people to be patient for a few minutes. It is a neighborhood branch, so we know many of the faces that walk through the door every week. The street outside is always noisy with rickshaws and street vendors. We have been part of this community in Kolkata for many years now. Our desks are old-fashioned wood, and there are always stacks of paper forms everywhere. We just try to get through the daily tasks without making any mistakes. It is hard work, especially when it is humid outside. People come to us because we are right here on Harish Chandra Dutta Road.
