This particular office is located at N/3 in the Nabadarsha Co-Op Housing Society Ltd. It is in the Birati area of Kolkata, near the airport but inside a residential neighborhood. It is a bit unusual to see a name like ours in a housing society, but this is where we handle a lot of the local coordination and paperwork. The building is a standard co-operative block and our unit is simple. We have some desks, a few filing cabinets, and a computer that is always running. It is not like the big booking counters you see at the airport terminals. Here, it is much quieter. We see a lot of the same people from the neighborhood passing by the window. The staff here usually brings lunch in steel tiffins and we eat together in the small back room. There is no air conditioning in the hallway, so we keep the fans on high speed during the summer months. We don't have any flashy advertisements on the walls, just a few calendars and some necessary charts. It is a very basic operation. We focus on getting the administrative side of things right. People from the society sometimes drop by just to say hello or ask about flights. We help them out as best as we can. It is a humble workplace that keeps us connected to the local community in Birati while we do our part for the airline.
