Renewable Watch has its office at B-17 in the Qutab Institutional Area. It’s a much more relaxed part of Delhi, with plenty of greenery and a bit more space between the buildings. The building we are in is one of those older institutional structures that has a very solid, steady feel to it. Inside, the atmosphere is pretty quiet, which is good for all the reading and writing we have to do. We track the renewable energy sector, so there are stacks of magazines and reports everywhere you look. It’s not a high-tech office with glass walls; it’s more like a library that someone decided to put desks in. We have a small team, and we usually just shout across the room if we need something. There’s a kitchen where we make tea several times a day. The walk from the metro or the parking area is nice because of all the trees. We don’t have a big sign outside, just a small one near the door. The furniture is a bit mismatched, but it’s comfortable enough for a long day of work. It’s not the kind of place where people wear suits. We just dress casually and get on with our tasks. Sometimes a stray dog will sleep near the entrance, and no one really minds. It’s a very grounded and peaceful place to work compared to the rest of the city.
