Kharbanda Rubber Ways

Our workshop is at O-122 in Sector-1. This is the Dsiidc area in Bawana, which is basically just rows and rows of factories. We work with rubber, so the first thing you notice when you walk in is that heavy scent. It never really goes away. We have these old presses that have seen better days, but they still get the job done. It’s hot work, particularly when the summer sun hits the roof of the shed. We make all sorts of small rubber parts that people probably never think about. The floor is usually covered in black dust, and our clothes stay stained no matter how much we wash them. It’s a small operation. We don't have a secretary or a fancy waiting room. If you come by, you’ll just see us working the machines or moving crates around. The roads in Bawana are often blocked with big lorries, so getting things in and out can be a real headache. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend the whole afternoon covered in grease trying to fix it. That’s just the way it goes here. We don't make any big promises, we just try to finish the batches we started in the morning. It’s a hard way to make a living, but it’s what we know. We don't do anything special, just push the buttons and watch the molds fill up day after day.
