Pawse Wadapav

We are over on Plot No 37/B, right on Cement Road in Raje Raghuji Nagar. Our little place, Pawse Wadapav, is directly opposite the Kirti Sevan Apartment. It’s a residential area mostly, so we know almost everyone who walks by. I’ve lived in Nagpur all my life and making wadapav seemed like a natural thing to do. We don’t have a big seating area or a dining hall. People just stand around on the sidewalk or take their food home. The morning starts with boiling potatoes and frying the chilies. The smell of the besan frying is how the neighbors know we are open. It’s a small shop, so we have to be organized or we run out of room. My son helps me in the afternoons after he finishes his studies. We get a lot of school kids and office workers stopping by. Nagpur is known for its heat, so we have a small fan that doesn’t do much, but we manage. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the city. We just want to make enough to keep the house running. Sometimes we talk about the local news while the oil is heating up. It’s a simple way to spend a day. If it rains, things get slow, but usually, there’s a steady line of people. We have been at the 440009 address for quite a few years now.
